Description
It is my understanding that House for Sale signs are only allowed on thoroughfares Friday to Sunday. There has been a small Real Estate sign on Academy at Red Oak Ln (Spring Run subdivision). for weeks now, and another sign at Red Oak Ln. and Oak Terrace. Does Code Enforcement not patrol the area, or does it take a citizen's complaint to accomplish enforcement of existing codes?

The current City Sign Ordinance does not restrict signs to weekends only. For example each residentially zone parcel may have up to 10 square feet of signs on the parcel, with no individual sign over 6 square feet. The signs must also be located behind the public right-of-way.
This, however, may change in the future, as City Council is currently reviewing the sign ordinance for possible amendment.
It is noted that the most current changes to the ordinance are not yet appearing in the Unified Development Code that is available online. The City is contacting the third party vendor with which we contract to get this addressed.

The most recent changes to the sign ordinance have not yet been incorporated into the online version of the code; however, you can view the ordinance amendment as presented to City Council at http://alpharettaga.suiteonemedia.com/Web/GenFile.aspx?ad=127.
With the exception of that amendment, our sign codes can be found in Section 2.6 of the Unified Development Code, which is available at https://www.municode.com/library/ga/alpharetta/codes/unified_development_code?nodeId=ARTIIUSLAST_S2.6SI. Please note, however, that the aforementioned amendment does modify some sections of this document.
