AGREE!!!! Been telling the City this since 1994!!!
What did they do?? Placed a stop sign @ Debra/Beta/Echols and then later placed a radar up by Purdue (on a CURVE) not here around 12th/13th and Beta where they do 70-80MPH, DAILY!!!

The neighborhood is much more busy since the new houses have been put in. They don't even have a School Bus Stop Sign. City of Clovis, please add a Stop Sign here. I have two children of my own and I'm so nervous for them to play in the front yard.

The intersection @ 12th & Beta does have Stop signs installed for 12st St. at this intersection. Beta is considered a collector street therefore there is going to be more traffic at this location as to a side resident street. Two blocks to the North @ Beta & Debra there is Stop signs at all the approaches. The intersection at 12th & Beta does not warrant a 4way stop when looking at the guidelines set forth in the MUTCD which all municipalities must follow, another thing that is also stated in the MUTCD is that a municipality cannot install Stop signs to control a speeding problem that is an enforcement issue not a signing issue. Hope this answers some of the question on Beta St.

I understand rules are rules, but claiming its an enforcement issue is just a cop-out. The speeding will not get enforced and one of the kids (maybe my own) is going to get hit at this Bus Stop/intersection.

****Please acknowledge with a response that you know that this intersection is a School Bus Stop and the city is going to do nothing about the speeding or signage.

As far as the School Bus Stop location, that is not a dedicated stop implemented by the City of Clovis, maybe the school chose that point or the school district or the bus driver but not the City of Clovis! The buses stop all over Clovis that is why they have Stop paddles installed on the buses as well as the red lights when loading or unloading children. Normally the buses do not stop at an intersection mainly because they have 4 ways of traffic to address instead of two. In regards to speeding the street is post 30 MPH once you leave 7th St. headed North so if there is speeding taking place it is an enforcement issue. Vehicles traveling South once they leave the intersection of Beta & Debra St. only have less than two blocks before they enter the 12th & Beta intersection so that should not be an issue of speeding from that direction. If an individual is going to not follow a posted speed sign that is a regulation then do you really think another sign would make a difference to that individual?

I absolutely do think a stop sign would make a huge difference. Not everyone is maliciouly speeding. Sometimes people just aren't paying attention and they speed. A Stop Sign at 12th/Debra and Beta would make a huge difference in the amount of speed people gain on Beta. You cannot convince me otherwise. I live here and i see it every single day. Rules can be changed and yes, maybe Beta is a feeder road but lots of homes have been constructed in the area and its is getting more populated. With change comes change and the city must adapt and do the right thing. Property taxes are for problems like this and its unacceptable that a 5 minute thought process and rejection is the way the city handles an aging problem. Please consider a better alternative then calling it an enforcement issue.
